With temperatures expected to rise into the 90s this week, the City of Cambridge is excited to welcome the return of waterplay season! Waterplay features at many neighborhood parks and playgrounds are now open for the summer and offer a fun, free way for kids to cool off and stay active. Children of all ages can splash, spray, and play in a variety of water features—like splash pads, sprinklers, and spouts—available seven days a week at select locations.  Note: Waterplay features at school playgrounds will be turned on after the school year ends, beginning June 26.

Exchange your surplus paint, fabric, fiber, and other supplies with fellow crafters and artists in the community! Donations accepted at the Main Library Q&A desk starting July 19. Come get creative at Collins! Join your neighbors at this casual, drop-in afternoon craft session. This month, celebrate winter by making snowflakes. We'll provide supplies and instructions to cut traditional snowflakes and advanced 3-D versions using multiple sheets of paper. This month's activity is recommended for people of all ages.

Celebrate the start of summer at a neighborhood bash for all ages! Join us for: Outdoor activities (bubbles, sidewalk chalk, etc.) Face painting by Color Me Funky Mini blossom kits to decorate and plant seeds Refreshments Sign up for summer reading bingo In the event of inclement weather, all activities will move indoors.

This week's selection: Arthur Rimbaud, "The Drunken Boat," "Vowels," "Eternity," "Memory," "To a Reason," and "Dawn." Reading Interests: We concentrate on Great Books in the following areas: a long novel over the summer, two sections of poetry and short stories, a book of the Bible, a Shakespeare play, an ancient and modern drama, a work of science, a smaller work of fiction, an even smaller work of fiction, and a rotating mix of politics, philosophy, and religion. Authors read in the past five years include Dickens, Keats and Yeats, O'Connor and Munro, Ecclesiastes, Sophocles and August Wilson, Darwin, Austen, Duras, The Federalist Papers, and Arendt. How to get the print book: Copies of the reading are set aside at the Main Library. Visit the Main Library at 449 Broadway during current service hours and a staff member can help you get a copy.
