Child Safety Seat Installation and Inspection
The Cambridge Police Department has officers trained in child passenger safety. These officers will inspect and teach the proper installation of car seats to any Cambridge resident.
Community Preservation Act
The Community Preservation Act (CPA) helps cities and towns preserve the character of their community. A 3% CPA surcharge is included with Property Tax bills to fund affordable housing, open space, and historic preservation projects.
8th Class of Cambridge-Northeastern Police Academy Begins
This week 42 Student Officers officially began their law enforcement career as part of the Cambridge-Northeastern Police Academy. Now in it’s eighth class, the Cambridge-Northeastern Police Academy is a collaboration between both departments with support from other agencies. The academy is authorized by the Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) to provide recruit level training for officers looking to work in municipal or university settings.
City Parks Hardcourt Repairs Scheduled
The City of Cambridge Parks Department has scheduled the following maintenance and repairs to the hardcourt surfaces at Riverside Press Park, Hoyt Field and Dana Park.
Water Department
The Cambridge Water Department (CWD) is a municipally owned and operated water utility, responsible for the treatment and delivery of water to the residents of Cambridge.
Cambridge Climate Committee
The City Manager appoints a standing Climate Committee as an advisory committee to assist in the implementation of the Climate Protection Plan and Net Zero Action Plan.
Public Comment Session for Utilization of HUD Grants
The Community Development Department will hold an information and public comment session in preparation of the City’s FY2026 Annual Action Plan and FY2026-2030 Consolidated Plan. The purpose of the session is to solicit public comments on affordable housing, economic development, public service and other community development needs as they relate to low and moderate-income Cambridge residents, and HOPWA qualifying residents across Middlesex and Essex counties.

For more information about reporting a sexual assault to the Cambridge Police call the Sexual Assault Helpline at 617-349-3381 for assistance. This helpline is monitored during business hours. Any messages left over night or on a weekend will be responded to by a detective/victim advocate on the next business day. Please note: This is not a confidential hotline or tip line.
