In honor of Pride month, we are celebrating the colors of the rainbow with tie-dye! Teens are welcome to tie-dye a provided shirt or bag or bring something of their own to tie-dye. Snacks are provided. No registration required, supplies are provided until they run out. The City of Cambridge does not discriminate, including on the basis of disability. We may provide auxiliary aids and services, written materials in alternative formats, and reasonable modifications in policies and procedures to people with disabilities. World Space Week runs October 4-10, 2025. Celebrate with an after school activity. Supplies will be provided to design your own galaxy or solar system. Recommended for ages 4-10 with a caregiver.

Art on a nice Summer night? Nothing sounds better than that! Come to the Library and enjoy an art filled evening learning the techniques of printmaking. In partnership with artist Brooke Lambert, a professional printmaker and painter, she will take you through this guided art class. The library will provide all materials. Registration is required.

Join us for a fun and interactive storytime featuring Nicolette Nordin Heavey! A renowned folk storyteller, Nicolette invites audiences to participate in creating and sharing stories together. Funding for Summer Reading has been generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Library Foundation and Friends of the Cambridge Public Library.

Cambridge’s AxisGIS web map is the most robust interactive mapping solution. It has many features which allow users to view, query, and create maps. Users can also export selected datasets, generate abutters list for mailings, use measurement tools, mark up maps, send links to other users by e-mail, and more! Whether you’re an experienced GIS user or a first-time viewer, the AxisGIS interactive web map is a great way to explore the city and create your own personalized maps.

This new program is aimed at protecting the health of our local rivers and reducing street flooding. Residents and business owners are encouraged to participate by claiming a storm drain in their neighborhood and keeping it clear of debris, particularly ahead of rain events. With 5,800 City owned storm drains in Cambridge, the task of maintaining them is substantial. City crews work diligently to clear storm drains before and after storms, but this task can be completed more quickly with community assistance.

Have you ever wanted to design your own custom nail set? Well come to the Library and dive into the world of nail art. Local licensed nail tech, Munah of Fine Geh Glam, will guide you in this fun and creative art class. You will learn about proper nail care and treatments and leave with a one-of-a-kind nail set of your own. All supplies will be provided by the Library.

Join us for a lively discussion of a great book in person at the Main Library! Snacks will be provided. For ages 7-10 and a parent or caregiver. This month's book is The Very, Very Far North by Dan Bar-el, a gentle story about animal friendships. In the Very, Very Far North, past the Cold, Cold Ocean and just below the hill that looks like a baby whale, you'll find Duane and his friends. Duane is a sweet and curious young bear who makes friends with everyone he meets--whether they're bossy, like Major Puff the puffin, or a bit vain, like Handsome the musk ox, or very, very shy, like Boo the caribou. For these arctic friends, every day is a new adventure! Both caregiver and child should read the book before the discussion to participate. Registration is required — only one registration is needed per family. For a copy of the book, stop by the Children’s Room after you've registered. The Library celebrates Juneteenth with the Dave Macklin Band as they pay tribute to the musical contributions of Black artists. PARK SOUNDS 2025 brings free outdoor musical performances featuring local artists to the front lawn of the Cambridge Public Library Main Branch. These events are all-ages. Bring a chair, food, and loved ones to celebrate the summer! Funding is provided by the CPL Foundation.

Join us for an hour of songs, stories, and social meet-up in Mandarin Chinese with JingJing and Chelsea, two local mothers and educators. This fun and interactive session brings families together in a warm, welcoming environment. This event is for children and their caregivers. In the first half, listen to engaging stories and sing lively songs. In the second half, children will do an activity, and everyone will have an opportunity to socialize. There will be two events in this special Valente series: Saturday, May 28 Saturday, June 14 Registration is helpful. Register for each session separately to receive an email reminder the day before the program. Include the total number of expected attendees in your registration.
