Cambridge is proud to announce that Results for America has awarded it Bloomberg Philanthropies What Works Cities Platinum Certification for establishing exceptional data capabilities to inform policy, allocate funding, improve services, evaluate programs, and engage residents. The What Works Cities Certification standard reflects the practices, policies, and infrastructure municipalities must have in place to effectively harness data for better decision-making. Platinum is Bloomberg Philanthropies What Works Cities’ highest-level certification.

The Cambridge Early Math Group is a partnership of organizations who care about math as a civil right. Together we work to support Cambridge families and young children around math literacy. Our goal is that all children (birth to eight years) and their families will engage in joyful math play. This is one of the paths to developing a positive math mindset and becoming a life-long math learner.

This engaging and educational program is led by master fitness trainer, author, and motivational speaker Shaun Zetlin. Designed for teens and adults of all fitness levels, this session explores how to build strength, improve balance, and move with greater confidence in everyday life. Through clear instruction and gentle, accessible demonstrations, participants will learn how simple movement patterns can enhance stability, coordination, and independence over time. Shaun also highlights the connection between physical confidence and emotional well-being, offering practical tools to help individuals feel more secure, capable, and empowered in their daily lives. All exercises are adaptable, with options performed seated or standing, making the program inclusive and approachable for a wide range of abilities. Registration is preferred not required.

The Budget process for Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24) began in the fall of 2022. This was the first Budget that I have prepared for the City of Cambridge since becoming City Manager. It was an amazing honor to lead that process, and much success is owed to the dedicated city leaders, teams, and staff members, who work incredibly hard everyday to maintain and build a stronger, more equitable and thriving City.

A new partnership with Biobot Analytics, Inc. in Cambridge offers a new approach to tracking COVID-19 outbreaks: analyzing wastewater. This week, for the first time, Cambridge will have access to local wastewater data that will serve as an early warning signal of increased COVID-19 infections in the city. This new monitoring tool will augment more traditional public health approaches for tracking and responding to disease outbreaks.

This discussion is inspired by the Massachusetts Seal, Flag, and Motto Advisory Commission’s open call to artists, historians, educators, students, and members of the public to participate in the effort to redesign the state’s seal, flag, and motto. Established by the Legislature in 2024, the Commission is tasked with developing and recommending new symbols to represent the state through a statewide public process. A booster shot is an extra dose of a vaccine that can help 'boost' the immune system to better protect against disease. COVID-19 vaccines work very well to protect against serious illness and death. However, protection against more moderate disease may decrease over time. Recent research shows that a Pfizer COVID-19 booster shot strengthens the immune response in people who had had their second Pfizer shot at least 6 months earlier.
