Join Ora Grodsky, the author of Justice, Love, and Organizational Healing: A Guide to Transformational Consulting in a discussion about her new book. Ora Grodsky is a mission-driven organizational development consultant with over 25 years of experience. She is a holistic practitioner who combines training in acupuncture, non-profit management expertise, extensive study of organizational development, and commitment to compassion and justice. Join us for an informative discussion with representatives Viet Van, Community Support Services Manager, and Nina Cohen, Director of Adult Family Care, of Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES). Since 1972, SCES has been the area's aging information and service center, helping older people and people living with disabilities remain safe and independent in their own homes. Registration is requested, but not required. SCES services are available to older residents of Cambridge and Somerville, as well as their caregivers. Some services are open to adults with disabilities who are age 16 and older, and to residents of the Greater Boston area.

Young people ages 10 to 14 who love to write are welcome to share their ideas and writing. There will be time for share-outs/workshopping, as well as group or solo writing. Snacks are provided! This week we will be joined by guest author, Kendall Kulper. If you are attending for the first time, registration is helpful, but not required.

Celebrate reading with fellow new readers at the Valente Branch Library! We will explore a book from the Beginning Reader collection, spend time reading together, and do an activity! Copies of the book will be provided via the library; participants may check out a copy to take home after the program. This is open to students in kindergarten through second grade who are practicing reading independently; their grown-ups are welcome to join us. Registration is required. Jill Ahlstrand is the founder of Harvesting Flavor, where she teaches approachable, garden-to-table plant-based cooking that helps people feel energized, confident, and nourished. Through classes, workshops, and wellness programs, she makes healthy eating practical, seasonal, and deeply flavorful. Bowls are one of the easiest ways to eat plant-forward, but only when they’re built well. In this class, you’ll learn how to create balanced, satisfying bowls using simple components like grains, vegetables, proteins, and sauces. We’ll focus especially on how sauces bring everything together, so bowls are flavorful, filling, and easy to repeat at home. No special diet is required, just practical, delicious food.

Come try your hand at making a beautiful pin or magnet! Draw your own design, and learn to use our button making machine. Each attendee will have the opportunity to make one or two printed designs as well. This event is recommended for school-age children. No registration necessary - just drop in anytime during the event (while supplies last).
