In response to the COVID-19 public health crisis in the Commonwealth, the City of Cambridge and the Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD) today declared that a state of emergency exists in the City of Cambridge related to COVID-19. The emergency declaration will facilitate and expedite the use of resources to protect persons from the impacts of COVID-19.

The Cambridge Water Department (CWD) carefully monitors the City’s water supply system on a weekly basis to ensure an adequate supply of water is available to meet the needs of our residents, businesses, and local organizations.

One of Cambridge’s earliest actions in response to the emerging public health crisis was Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui and City Manager Louis A. DePasquale activating the Mayor’s Disaster Relief Fund to provide emergency assistance to individuals and families in Cambridge experiencing extreme financial hardship. Since March, more than $4.7 million in donations have been received from hundreds of generous residents and local corporations.
