Under a Level 2 -- Significant Drought, overall water use should be minimized and any outdoor water use should be limited to hand-held hoses or watering cans to be used only after 5 p.m. or before 9 a.m.

Residents and community members can organize an event anytime between September 14 and 22, though Sunday, September 15 is the official event day. Due to the abnormally low levels, the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) elevated the Northeast Region of Massachusetts, which includes Cambridge, from a Level 2 - Significant Drought to a Level 3 - Critical Drought on Friday, February 7.

A certified Crime Prevention Officer will come to your home, apartment, or business, FREE of charge, and conduct a “target-hardening” survey and offer advice on how to make the residence or business less susceptible to break-ins or crime.

Acting on recommendations from the City Manager’s Office, the License Commission has authorized the sale of alcohol-to-go for permitted businesses within designated open container districts/public consumption zones and a maximum one-hour extension of alcohol operating sales for approved bars and restaurants.

Join the Cambridge Public Library in welcoming Rachel Slade, author of Making It in America: The Almost Impossible Quest to Manufacture in the U.S.A. (And How It Got That Way)—as well as the national bestseller, Into the Raging Sea—for the latest installment of the Our Path Forward Lecture Series. Slade's book, which follows a young couple in Maine trying to kickstart a lost industry, was named a Publishers Weekly "Top 10 Pick in Business and Economics." Cosmopolitan called Making It in America an "enlightening look at the history of manufacturing in America and how we got to where we are today." After the lecture, Slade will sit in conversation with Janelle Nanos, a business enterprise reporter at The Boston Globe and a finalist for a 2023 Pulitzer Prize, after which she will answer questions from the audience. On Sunday, June 25, 2026 several off-duty officers took part in the 2026 BFit Challenge at TD Garden. BFit is an annual event hosted by the Boston Bruins Foundation with a goal of promoting community wellness while raising funds for various charities, many of which support first responders, military veterans, and their families.
