Baker-Polito Administration Announces Implementation of CARES Act Unemployment Benefits for Self-Employed, Gig Economy and Other Workers
Residents who are not eligible for regular unemployment benefits can now apply online for the new Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program. The new federal program provides up to 39 weeks of unemployment benefits to those who are unable to work because of a COVID-19-related reason but are not eligible for regular or extended unemployment benefits. This includes self-employed workers, independent contractors, gig economy workers, and those with limited work history.

The state grant funds we secured will help add additional staffing resources throughout the city to promote additional safety. CPD works all year to educate and enforce traffic safety as we receive community feedback and input from other city agencies on potential issues. We also focus on areas where there have been traffic pattern changes.

Cambridge Community Preservation Act Committee Seeks Project Requests for funding in areas of Housing, Historic Preservation, and Open Space and Recreation
The City of Cambridge Community Preservation Act (CPA) Committee will meet virtually on Wednesday, June 9, at 5:30 p.m. to receive project requests for FY22 funding. Each year, the CPA Committee recommends funding for affordable housing, historic preservation, open space, and recreation initiatives throughout the city. Recommendations can be submitted at the June 9 meeting or online from June 9 through July 14, 2021.
