Sungazing with #popscope (Main)
Join us on the lawn of the Cambridge Public Library for a unique afternoon of sungazing with #popscope as part of MA Space Week 2025! You'll have the chance to observe the Sun safely through specially equipped telescopes, guided by enthusiastic astronomy educators and volunteers.
Discover sunspots, solar flares, and the powerful beauty of our closest star - no experience necessary! Whether you're a curious kid, a budding scientist, or just passing by, stop in for a moment of cosmic wonder
Kids Paint Party at the Library (O'Connell)
Join us for a fun afternoon of painting, led by local artist Lynn Vandick! This paint party is geared toward kids ages 7-12. Each participant will receive two 8x10 canvases, and Lynn will lead participants through the steps of painting a fun design. There will be various designs available to choose from.
Acrylic paint can stain clothing. Please wear old clothing.
No experience necessary. Kids age 7-12 are welcome.
Registration is required and will open two weeks before the event.
CPL Nature Club: Moth Ball Mask Making (Collins)
Celebrate National Moth Week in style!
Step 1: Drop by the Collins Branch to make a moth mask with guidance and costume advice from Cambridge Wildlife Arts.
Step 2: Debut your mask on the red carpet at the second annual Cambridge Moth Ball on Wednesday, July 23 from 7:30-10 p.m at the Fresh Pond Reservation's Kingsley Park. Learn all about moths and their role in the ecosystem, participate in "mothing," and take photographs of moths. Costumes encouraged for children & adults!
