Our monthly "Graphics Are Great!" book group is for kids aged 8-12. Check out a copy of the book at O'Connell beforehand, or download it from the Libby app. Our March book is Alterations by Ray Xu. Cambridge Public Health Department will soon be offering flu and COVID-19 vaccines, as available, for all eligible residents. Everyone 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine with rare exceptions. Vaccination is recommended for all who are eligible because it can reduce flu illnesses, visits to doctors’ offices, and missed work and school due to flu. It can also make symptoms less severe and reduce flu-related hospitalizations and deaths. A flu vaccine is particularly important for people who are at higher risk of serious complications from influenza.

The City of Cambridge, through its Community Development Department, is making available for public review and comment the draft of its FY2025 Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report (CAPER), which includes its utilization of funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The next bird watching walk will be held on Friday, July 18th at 10:15 a.m. You can register for that walk at this link: https://cambridgepl.libcal.com/calendar/publicevents/JulyBird Join us for a morning walk at one of the most renowned birdwatching spots in Cambridge, Mount Auburn Cemetery! We will help you identify birds, learn birdwatching tips and tricks, and familiarize yourself with migratory birds as well as those that can be spotted all year round. A limited supply of binoculars will be available. The walk will meet at the Collins Branch Library at 64 Aberdeen Ave at 10:15 a.m. We will walk to Mt. Auburn Cemetery together (about a five minute walk). Please try to be on time as we will leave shortly after 10:15! Registration is required. This event can only accommodate a certain number of participants. One registration is good for one person. If you do not register, you cannot participate. Those on the waitlist will be contacted if a space becomes available.

You’re invited to our January Brewery Book Club, where Lamplighter and the Cambridge Public Library team up to highlight contemporary works from marginalized voices while having a beer. We meet at Lamplighter Brewing Co., 284 Broadway, in the back taproom. This month we’ll read The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden. Copies of the book are available at the Main Library Q&A Desk. The e-book and digital audiobook can be borrowed through the Libby app. We’ll gather in the Lamplighter back taproom to discuss the book, what we learned from it, what we found ourselves touched by, and all other thoughts.
