The Baker-Polito Administration, in collaboration with the Museum of Science Boston and Dunkin’ announced initiatives to increase access to COVID-19 vaccines in the Commonwealth. People and pets should avoid contact with Alewife Brook and parts of the Mystic River due to the release of stormwater mixed with sewage into the river. The release of mixed stormwater and sewage—known as a “combined sewer overflow (CSO)”—is needed to prevent contaminated water from backing up into homes, businesses, and city streets.

In keeping with the recommendation of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Cambridge Public Health Department, the City of Cambridge today is strongly recommending that residents wear face coverings anytime they are outside of their home, especially in public settings in which physical distancing measures (ensuring 6 feet of space or more from others) are difficult to maintain. Those areas include grocery stores and pharmacies.

The deadline to apply for the next Civil Service exam to become a Cambridge Police Officer has been announced. The deadline to apply for the exam is January 28, 2025. The written examination is scheduled to take place between March 15, 2025 – March 22, 2025. All interested Cambridge residents are encouraged to apply by visiting www.cambridgepolice.org/joinCPD. The examination period may be extended depending on the number of candidates.
