The Baker-Polito Administration released Reopening Massachusetts, the Reopening Advisory Board’s report, which details a four-phased strategy to responsibly reopen businesses and activities while continuing to fight COVID-19. The City of Cambridge announced today plans to restore the exterior façade of the historic City Hall. Cambridge has a rich history, and the landmark City Hall building is a significant part of that story. The 15-month restoration project will preserve Cambridge City Hall's historic character. Work includes gilding at the clock tower, originally manufactured by the E. Howard Watch & Clock Company of Waltham. The clock is original to the building and was last restored 20 years ago. To this day, it is still wound by hand once a week.
