The City of Cambridge announced today plans to restore the exterior façade of the historic City Hall. Cambridge has a rich history, and the landmark City Hall building is a significant part of that story. The 15-month restoration project will preserve Cambridge City Hall's historic character. Work includes gilding at the clock tower, originally manufactured by the E. Howard Watch & Clock Company of Waltham. The clock is original to the building and was last restored 20 years ago. To this day, it is still wound by hand once a week.

"No Left Turn" signs are coming to the intersection of Brattle Street and Appleton Street on or about Wednesday, August 14. These new signs will restrict left turns from Brattle Street eastbound onto Appleton Street northbound at all times.

Rather than using scissors for sharp, clean cuts, we carefully tear the paper to create soft, feathered edges that look almost like a watercolor painting. Whether you’re a long-time crafter or haven't picked up an art project in years, come enjoy some quiet, analog crafting time making a handmade picture, led by instructor Chihiro Sato. Established under state law in 1935, the Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) provides long-term rental housing and rental assistance to more than 10,000 low-income families, elders, and disabled individuals through its Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Programs.

In addition to hosting a World Cup quarterfinal watch party at Lechmere Square / Cambridge Crossing on July 9 at 4 p.m., the City will be partnering with the Office of Tourism and CambridgeSide to host a free watch party for the World Cup final around Lechmere Square at CambridgeSide on Sunday, July 19.

The Baker-Polito Administration released Reopening Massachusetts, the Reopening Advisory Board’s report, which details a four-phased strategy to responsibly reopen businesses and activities while continuing to fight COVID-19. The Administration also released a new “Safer At Home” Advisory, which instructs residents to stay at home unless engaging with newly opened activities, as a way to continue limiting the spread of COVID-19.

The Phoenix Landing will produce Mardi Gras in June, bringing the spirit of community joy and celebration to Lafayette Square (intersection of Mass Ave and Main St). Legless Lizard will bring the New Orleans-style Mardi Gras tunes. The event is planned for June 26, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
