Funded equally by the City of Cambridge and CCF, the effort aims to shore up local food pantries preparing to meet increased demand in the coming weeks and provide greater food access to the City’s most vulnerable populations – particularly low-income eligible families with children and older adults.

The Baker-Polito Administration announced plans to increase access to at home COVID-19 test kits for residents across the Commonwealth. The Administration has secured 2.1 million iHealth Labs over-the-counter (OTC) at-home rapid antigen tests that will be delivered to 102 towns with the highest percentage of families below the poverty level. These free tests will be available for distribution to the public by each municipality, with an emphasis on increasing access for individuals and families who are facing financial hardship.

MIT in collaboration with the City of Cambridge is planning to install a new drainage structure from Talbot Street to the Charles River to improve stormwater management in the area due to current and future development. The project will begin construction in October of this year and continue through to the Fall of 2019.

In response to the COVID-19 public health crisis in the Commonwealth, the City of Cambridge and the Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD) today declared that a state of emergency exists in the City of Cambridge related to COVID-19. The emergency declaration will facilitate and expedite the use of resources to protect persons from the impacts of COVID-19.

Calling all middle grade readers! Meet up in the Curious George Room every third Thursday to eat pizza and talk about books with your friends. This month's book will be The Experiment by Rebecca Stead. Copies will be available at the children's desk on the third floor. Snacks are provided. This group is for ages 10-12. Start the year off right by getting to know Cambridge birds! All ages are welcome to join us as we observe birds at Fresh Pond, which provides habitat for many different species at all times of the year. This event will focus on birds that can be found in the winter in Cambridge, including several species of ducks, sparrows and more. We may also see some of our year-round resident birds, and we will discuss general birdwatching tips and learn more about the birds we share our outdoor spaces with. A limited supply of binoculars will be available. Please dress accordingly as we will be outside for the entire walk. Registration is required for this event.
