Community Engagement & Outreach
The DGBVPI works to improve access and use of services through community partnerships. We co-facilitate the Cambridge Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and the DGBVPI Steering Committee. In these settings, organizations gain a deeper understanding of how DGBV shows up in different settings and collaborate to find ways to address it. We work to make sure the Cambridge community has, “no wrong door” for survivors seeking services or someone causing harm who wants to change their behavior.
Who We Are
The DGBVPI engages and mobilizes Cambridge’s communities, agencies, and City departments to change attitudes, behaviors, policies, and practices to prevent and bring attention to domestic and gender-based violence. Services include training, consultation, building collaborations across various sectors in Cambridge, and coordination of systems of change in order to ensure compassionate and supportive environments for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence across the city.
AI & Disinformation (Main)
In this class, we'll take a friendly, no-pressure look at how artificial intelligence is being used to create fake photos, videos, and even cloned voices, and how scammers use these tools to trick people. We'll talk about real examples you may have seen in the news, learn some simple tips for spotting when something's not quite right, and share trustworthy tools and websites you can use to double-check information before you trust it, or share it with family and friends. You don't need any tech background to join us. Just bring your questions and your curiosity, we'll walk through everything together, step by step. This class is a part of the AARP curriculum. To learn more about AARP please go to: www.oats.org To view and register for other Basic Tech Classes at the Library, please go to tinyurl.com/basictechclass. Registration is encouraged, but not required.
