This self-guided Walking Tour highlights the dynamic history of feminist-owned businesses and organizations that emerged and thrived in Cambridge from the 1970s to the 1990s as the women’s movement sparked across the United States. Learn more about the enormous contributions women made locally to the vibrancy of the city and the movement for women’s liberation.

We will adapt the tale "The Tortoise and the Hare" and perform our masterpiece for family and friends. Using a ChompSaw (a kid-safe power tool), participants will safely cut cardboard to create shadow puppets. This four-week puppetry workshop is for youth ages 7-10. We will meet on March 5, 12, 19 and 26. Registration is required. Participants much attend all sessions and have read a version of the tale before the first session. Youth ages 10-16 are welcome to join this eight-session campaign of Tuesdays in May and June of the table-top game Dungeons and Dragons (DnD), as we build our cooperative role-play and storytelling skills. The dates are 5/5, 5/12, 5/19, 5/26, 6/2, 6/9, 6/16, and 6/23. The first session will include time to build characters and review rules of gameplay. Following sessions will follow a storyline through to the final session. Registration is required, as the program is capped at 8 players. Please plan to attend all sessions! Registering for Session 1 includes the following weekly sessions. No prior DnD experience is required, and experienced players are also welcome to join. In anticipation of Valeria Luiselli's visit to Cambridge Public Library on September 24 (learn more here), we will gather to discuss Luiselli's new novel Beginning Middle End at this month's meeting. This month's book: Beginning Middle End by Valeria Luiselli Reading Interests: The group concentrates on fiction and narrative nonfiction. Some past selections include: An Oral History of Atlantis by Ed Park, The Lilac People by Milo Todd, and Searches by Vauhini Vara. This is the second regular meeting of the Mass Ave Planning Study Working Group, a representative body of neighborhood stakeholders that will help guide the planning process for Mass Ave from Cambridge Common to Alewife Brook Parkway.

All ages are welcome to join us as we observe birds at Fresh Pond. We will look for birds migrating to or through our area as well as year-round resident birds. As we walk we will discuss general birdwatching tips and learn more about the birds we share our outdoor spaces with. A limited supply of binoculars will be available.
