Thursday, May 11, 2023 marks the expiration of the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) that was first declared at both the state and federal levels in 2020. This signals a number of changes, including changes to COVID-19 data reporting.

With over 170 public artworks, Cambridge holds the largest contemporary public art collection in Massachusetts.

The City of Cambridge is canceling all City-sponsored Halloween events and will not be issuing street closure, block party, or park permits this year for community events in order to help prevent large groups from congregating in close proximity.

The City is working to reduce our community’s impact on the environment through waste reduction programs. The City collects and recycles more than 9,000 tons of materials annually. By stopping food waste from going to a landfill, we prevent greenhouse gas emissions.

Fire Prevention Week, October 8-14, 2023

The City of Cambridge will begin installing flex posts and concrete curbing to separate the two-way bike lane on Brattle Street from general travel lanes. This work is of the Brattle Street Safety Improvement Project.

Take extra precautions to prevent burn and scald injuries. Never get too comfortable or careless when using hot liquids or when cooking. Always respect hot liquids, hot stoves, home heating appliances, and other hot surfaces.

The City of Cambridge and Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD) will continue to offer free COVID-19 testing for Cambridge residents 4 days per week on with modified hours Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The site at 50 Church St. that previously offered testing will be discontinued beginning in June.

Harvard Book Store and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Angela Buchdahl—Senior Rabbi of Central Synagogue in New York City and the first Asian American to be ordained as a rabbi—for a discussion of her memoir Heart of a Stranger: An Unlikely Rabbi's Story of Faith, Identity, and Belonging.
