Collaborate on a biodiversity banner to celebrate Moth Week with a sewing circle on July 11 and July 18. Wildlife Arts invites the community to hand sew blocks for a multi-moth fabric banner! We'll teach beginning sewers, and children old enough to handle a needle may work on caterpillar blocks (recommended for age 10 and up). You'll learn about moth biodiversity in Massachusetts and help publicize the humble and little-known world of moths. The banner will be displayed at the Cambridge Moth Ball on July 22 at Fresh Pond Reservation and will be available in the Wildlife Arts banner lending library when complete. All materials will be provided. Registration is suggested. You may attend one or both sessions. The City of Cambridge does not discriminate, including on the basis of disability. The City of Cambridge encourages and promotes involvement by residents in the decision-making process through participation in a variety of boards and commissions.

Installing outdoor workout equipment in local parks encourages people to exercise. This equipment would include pull-up and dip bars, benches, and locations for stretching. Outdoor gyms help keep Cambridge residents healthy and fit!

The City of Cambridge and the Cambridge Redevelopment Authority (CRA) have announced new initiatives that together will provide approximately $3.6 million in support to Cambridge small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

The Conservation Commission is responsible for administration of the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act (WPA), a state law governing activities in and immediately adjacent to local wetlands, waterways and floodplains. The Commission holds two regularly scheduled public meetings each month to review permit applications under the WPA, issue permits and conduct other business related to the management of Cambridge’s natural resource areas.

Barron Family Achievement Award, established in 1992, is presented in recognition of outstanding productivity, distinguished performance and service to the City of Cambridge and Department of Public Works.

Barron Family Achievement Award, established in 1992, is presented in recognition of outstanding productivity, distinguished performance and service to the City if Cambridge and Department of Public Works.

This new program is aimed at protecting the health of our local rivers and reducing street flooding. Residents and business owners are encouraged to participate by claiming a storm drain in their neighborhood and keeping it clear of debris, particularly ahead of rain events. With 5,800 City owned storm drains in Cambridge, the task of maintaining them is substantial. City crews work diligently to clear storm drains before and after storms, but this task can be completed more quickly with community assistance.
