Reconstruction of Main Street in Kendall Square

City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. The hours for the Gold Star Pool on Berkshire Street have been extended Thursday, July 2 - Sunday, July 5 (including July 4th) from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. In the event that the pool reaches capacity, swim times may be limited. Curbside collection of trash, recycling, food waste, and yard waste will still take place on Friday, July 3. If you are going to enjoy the fireworks and Boston Pops show from the Cambridge side, plan ahead and make sure you bring lawn and beach chairs, and water to stay hydrated.

The Department of Public Works and the City's Community Development Department will be hosting an on-site Community Meeting on Wednesday, June 4 from 4-6 p.m. Anyone interested in attending can meet project staff at the corner of Chetwynd Road and Newell Street to discuss the Chetwynd Road Reconstruction Project.

The Department of Public Health (DPH) released updated guidance regarding the use of masks and face coverings in the Commonwealth. Recognizing that Massachusetts is a national leader in vaccination rates with over 84 percent of eligible residents fully vaccinated and over half of adults boosted, and in light of recent improvements in COVID-19 indicators, effective July 1, 2022, the new guidance advises that masks indoors are optional for most individuals, regardless of vaccination status.

Pursuant to Chapter 2 of the Acts of 2023 adopted by Massachusetts General Court and approved by the Governor, the Cambridge Retirement System is authorized to use remote participation at meetings of the Board.

Making zines will include activities like writing, drawing, and using a photocopier. For kids ages 7 and up. Snacks are provided! This week we will host guest artist Betsey Swardlick! Betsey Swardlick is a Providence-based cartoonist, teacher, and professional wrestler all struggling to live in the same body! WHO WILL WIN?? Betsey likes to make humorous comics about weirdos trying their best (or worst), fake newspapers, and assorted other multimedia spectacles.
