State announces 25% capacity limits for most sectors extended for two weeks, early closing order & Stay At Home Advisory rescinded

Residents and community members can organize an event anytime between September 14 and 22, though Sunday, September 15 is the official event day. We are hoping community members will plan events (e.g. cookout, block party, service project, etc.) that can bring together neighbors — in a way that works for them! Acting on recommendations from the City Manager’s Office, the License Commission has authorized the sale of alcohol-to-go for permitted businesses within designated open container districts/public consumption zones and a maximum one-hour extension of alcohol operating sales for approved bars and restaurants.

Cambridge Fire and Water Departments will work together in this process. Engine 1 (Harvard Square area) and Engine 2 (Lafayette Square) will test in their districts first.

This will allow for the Headquarters Major Renovation Project to begin at 491 Broadway

The City of Cambridge is excited to once again invite community members to vote on projects aimed at improving the city as part of the 10th Participatory Budgeting (PB) process. From March 7 to March 17, 2024, all Cambridge residents aged 12 and older, including all 6th graders and university students, will have the opportunity to participate.

To provide opportunities for residents to stay out of the extreme heat this week, the City of Cambridge is opening a cooling center beginning on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, and welcoming people to come cool down in certain city buildings. Given the concerns about the highly contagious delta variant and the potential for fully vaccinated people to transmit the virus, the Cambridge Public Health Department recommends that residents—vaccinated and not—wear a mask when indoors outside the home.

The City of Cambridge's 2023 Annual Martin Luther King Day Commemoration and Remembrance will take place on Monday, January 16 at 11 AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Central Square. It will feature readings, music, remarks from Gail Packer, and a community lunch.

CPD's Secret Santa for Seniors Gift Drive is Back for Its 19th Year. This program relies solely on generous donations from Cambridge businesses, residents, community members, and CPD employees. Gift bags are organized and distributed to seniors throughout the city on the days leading up to Christmas to remind them that they are not forgotten. The program is a great way to support Local Businesses and Seniors This Holiday Season. Gifts can be dropped off 24/7 at drop boxes in the first-floor main lobby of the Robert W.
