Learn to Sew! A Workshop for Teens, Taught by Teens (Main)
Don’t think you have what it takes to use a sewing machine? Think again! In this FREE workshop, teens from the Cambridge Community Art Center will teach you how to properly thread a machine, sew a straight stitch, hem and unfinished edge, and secure your stitches. Practice by sewing colorful shapes onto small flags. Following the workshop, the flags will be made into a banner and displayed at the Library. No experience necessary. City of Cambridge to Host Civic Assembly Lottery Selection Night October 5
The City of Cambridge will hold a special public lottery event on Monday, October 5 at 5 p.m. in Cambridge City Hall’s Sullivan Chamber to select the 40 residents who will serve on Cambridge’s first-ever Civic Assembly -- an innovative new community engagement process that will help shape the future of public safety and surveillance technology in Cambridge. The lottery selection will be open to the general public.
CDC Recommends Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccine for Children 5 to 11 Years
CDC Director Rochelle P. Walensky, M.D., M.P.H., endorsed the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP) recommendation that children 5 to 11 years old be vaccinated against COVID-19 with the Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric vaccine. CDC now expands vaccine recommendations to about 28 million children in the United States in this age group and allows providers to begin vaccinating them as soon as possible.
