Squirrels are an abundant species worldwide. Cambridge residents may encounter squirrels more frequently during their two annual mating seasons, one in late January/February and another in late May/June.
RFP to Fund High-Quality K-12 Math Enrichment Programs
The Cambridge STEAM Initiative, in partnership with the Cambridge Public Schools, is requesting funding proposals from local non-profit organizations that provide high-quality math enrichment programs for young people in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Deadline to apply is February 16.
New Cool Spots Bring Shade and Social Space to Porter Square
The City of Cambridge installed a new series of Cool Spots across Porter Square – welcoming outdoor seating areas designed to bring shade, comfort, and opportunities for social connection to some of the neighborhood’s hottest and most heavily traveled plazas and sidewalks.
PB Cycle 9
The City of Cambridge launched the 9th Cycle of Participatory Budgeting (PB9) in 2022. Between June and July, community members submitted 1,320 ideas for how to spend $1 million on one-time capital projects to improve Cambridge. From August through November, volunteer PB Delegates researched all submitted project ideas and developed the final proposals for the PB9 vote.
Remembering Together: Grief Support Group (Central Square)
The "Remembering Together" support group is for patrons who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Facilitated by the library social worker, this online group offers a safe and confidential online space for peers to come together, share common experiences and heal in community.
