Curbside Food Waste Pickup
In 2009, the City set a goal to reduce residential trash disposal by 30% by 2020, and by 80% by 2050. With that goal in mind, the City expanded curbside food waste pickup to all buildings with 1 to 12 units. 25,000 households (8,100 buildings) are now eligible to participate.
Print Making at The Hive
In this hands-on session, you’ll dive into traditional techniques using hand-carved blocks as well as modern methods with laser engraving. You’ll sketch and carve a design on a rubber linocut block and then print it onto paper. There will also be a demo on how Laser Cutters can be used to engrave print blocks You must complete Hive Safety Training before registering for this workshop.

Join us for a book discussion and hangout each month as we read books that celebrate the LGBTQIA+ experience. All readers age 12-15 welcome! Registration is required. Summer Reading: Live Animal Story Time with Land's Sake Farm (O'Neill)
Get up close and personal with chickens! This program includes a chicken-themed story time and educational games about chicken behavior and anatomy. The highlight of the program is the Chicken Circle, where youth are able to touch and interact with live chickens. Recommended for children of all ages and their caregivers. This program will happen indoors due to the heat. Registration is required. When registering, please list how many children are attending. Adults do not need to be included in the numbers for registration Funding for Summer Reading has been generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Library Foundation, Friends of the Cambridge Public Library and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
Summer Reading: Observing the Partial Solar Eclipse with #Popscope (O'Neill)
Join us during the partial solar eclipse and learn how to safely observe it! Eclipse glasses will be provided. This program will happen outside. In case of bad weather, there will be modified activities inside the Library. Funding for Summer Reading has been generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Library Foundation, Friends of the Cambridge Public Library and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
