Come to the library in your pajamas to listen to stories, read with your children, and enjoy a snack before bed! This program is recommended for children of all ages and their caregivers. Pajama Story Time is presented by the Cambridge Public Library and the Center for Families.

Join us for a conversation about community, resilience, and activism in the Latinx community with Gladys Vega, the Executive Director of La Collaborativa in Chelsea. Gladys Vega is a groundbreaking community organizer and advocate, working relentlessly and fearlessly to ensure the Latinx immigrant community has a voice in determining how it’s needs and concerns are addressed. She believes that empowerment of the individual leads to empowerment of the community and that social action is the vehicle an empowered community can use to achieve its goals. Gladys is the architect of nearly all of La Colaborativa’s programs, initiatives, and community organizing campaigns. Her leadership has resulted in expanded rights for immigrants, low-income families, tenants, workers, youths, and people of color across Massachusetts.

Come to the Library to create something special! Use your own supplies or try out our equipment! You can use our 1-inch button maker, 2.5 inch button maker, 3-D Doodle pens, or Janome sewing machines. The Library will provide basic supplies. *This month you are invited to join in a community sewing circle to help create a Moth Banner. Anyone wishing to use the sewing machines must have completed a Sewing 101 training through the Library. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Join us to craft homemade gifts this holiday season. Learn to create flowers made from tissue paper. Build a bouquet to take home for yourself or share with someone special. Recommended for children ages 6-12 with a caregiver. Balance ecological value with your preferences in your garden! Learn how to select native plants that will suit your conditions and support birds and beneficial insects. Amy Meltzer will discuss: Assessing your site and planning your garden Matching your site conditions with plant characteristics Choices for starting a native plant garden Finding affordable native plants Caring for your new plants Adapting your garden to climate change This is a hybrid event. A Zoom link will be sent to all registered participants 1 hour before the event. The in-person event will take place in the Learning Lab.

Members of the Kids' Zine Collective and Cambridge Young Authors' Squad are invited to a party to celebrate their work from this year! Kids can bring zines to swap and/or writing to share. Food provided! No registration is necessary.

Here’s your chance to try an instrument in a judgment-free zone that encourages exploration and excitement! After an introduction to the instruments, participants get a chance to bow a violin, blow a horn or tap out a rhythm on a drum. Recommended for children of all ages and their caregivers.
