The Chapter 30B Manual
Chapter 30B establishes procedures to follow for most agreements for acquisitions of supplies and services, dispositions of surplus supplies, and real property acquisitions and dispositions by local governmental bodies. Refer to the Chapter 30B Manual when you need information about procurement requirements and recommendations.
Making Danehy Friendlier and Healthier
Danehy’s signage can be confusing. Fitness stations are hard to find and people work out on benches. The City will improve fitness options for adults, add seating in the dog park, and revamp signage to show everybody what Danehy has to offer.
Social Services
The Cambridge Council on Aging offers a variety of Support and Social Groups to encourage social connection and support senior health.
Cambridge Increases Grants for Neighborhood Block Parties
Block Party season is here and the City of Cambridge is increasing grants for block parties in 2024 to help more neighborhoods hold celebrations. Any block is eligible to apply for $300 in funding and free access to pop-up play equipment.
Guidelines for Calling 911
911 is for emergencies only. 911 Dispatchers answer both 911 calls as well as general or business calls made to the Cambridge Police and Cambridge Fire business numbers (617-349-3300 for Police and 617-349-4900 for Fire) as well as other public safety non-911 numbers. Reserving 911 for emergencies enables 911 dispatchers to easily recognize and give highest priority to emergency callers while still being able to receive and promptly answer calls for service or non-emergency calls.
Broadband Task Force
City Manager Richard C. Rossi has appointed a Task Force to examine broadband service in Cambridge and evaluate the city’s internet infrastructure. The Task Force will examine options to increase competition, reduce pricing, and improve speed, reliability and customer service for both residents and businesses. Additionally, the Task Force will investigate scenarios for leveraging the City’s current or future fiber assets to expand access to broadband services, such as service to Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) properties.
