The next bird watching walk will be held on Friday, July 18th at 10:15 a.m. You can register for that walk at this link: https://cambridgepl.libcal.com/calendar/publicevents/JulyBird Join us for a morning walk at one of the most renowned birdwatching spots in Cambridge, Mount Auburn Cemetery! We will help you identify birds, learn birdwatching tips and tricks, and familiarize yourself with migratory birds as well as those that can be spotted all year round. A limited supply of binoculars will be available. The walk will meet at the Collins Branch Library at 64 Aberdeen Ave at 10:15 a.m. We will walk to Mt. Auburn Cemetery together (about a five minute walk). Please try to be on time as we will leave shortly after 10:15! Registration is required. This event can only accommodate a certain number of participants. One registration is good for one person. If you do not register, you cannot participate. Those on the waitlist will be contacted if a space becomes available.

Gund Kwok is the first all Asian and all female lion dance troupe in the country. They will present an interactive story about the origins and significance of the lion dance, followed by a lion dance performance that will include the traditional "eating of the greens" and the unrolling of good luck banners. After the performance, the audience will be invited to try on the lion heads and take photos. Recommended for children of all ages and their caregivers. Bring the whole family for a unforgettable experience!

Our monthly Middle Grade Mystery book group is for kids aged 10-14. Check out a copy of the book beforehand, or download it from the Libby app. Our January book is The Sherlock Society by James Ponti. This book group will meet virtually and in person at the O'Connell Branch. Please register below if you would like to attend virtually. May Selection: The World Central Kitchen Cookbook: feeding humanity, feeding hope Join friends and neighbors for a potluck! Try a recipe and bring your results or thoughts to share and discuss with other cooks. All experience levels welcome. No need to bring a dish to join. Books will be available for pick up at the Boudreau and Collins Branches during library hours. This event will take place indoors at the Collins Branch (64 Aberdeen Ave). Learn about the rabbits raised at Land’s Sake. This program includes a rabbit-themed story time, learning about rabbit behavior and anatomy, and a rabbit themed game. The highlight of the program is the Bunny Circle, where youth are able to touch and interact with live rabbits. This program is recommended for children ages 4 and up. Children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required - please register the total number of children who will be in your group.

Sacred Songs and Rituals brings Kendra Comstock, soprano, and Charles Iner, lute, to explore Catholic persecution during the English Renaissance and the forms of secret musical resistance Catholic musicians created during this time. Sacred Songs and Rituals is a Cambridge Public Library music series celebrating the divine in the many cultures found in Cambridge.

Join Conservation Coordinator Alison Cariens for a closer look at pigments in the famed Forbes Pigment Collection at the Harvard Art Museums. This event will take place at the Harvard Art Museums. Registration is required but does not guarantee entry. By registering here, you are joining the pool of interested patrons. From this pool, eight names will be drawn randomly. All registrants, whether selected to attend or not, will be notified of their status one week in advance. Approved participants will be provided with location details prior to the tour.

Join the Cambridge Public Library in welcoming Elaine Castillo, author of How to Read Now and America Is Not the Heart, in celebrating the release of her newest novel, Moderation, published in August 2025. The recipient of starred reviews from Publisher's Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, and Booklist—which called Moderation "a slyly brilliant narrative ... cleverly interrogating interactions, communication, and relationships"—the novel follows Girlie Delmundo, a social media content moderator falling in love with her boss while her career veers into an increasingly virtual realm, raising pertinent questions about the future of love. After reading from Moderation, Elaine with sit in conversation with writer and editor Meagan Masterman for a wide-ranging conversation followed by an audience Q&A and book signing. This is a hybrid event and registration is required.
