CDC Director Rochelle P. Walensky, M.D., M.P.H., endorsed the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP) recommendation for a booster shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in certain populations and also recommended a booster dose for those in high risk occupational and institutional settings. The Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) authorization and CDC’s guidance for use are important steps forward as we work to stay ahead of the virus and keep Americans safe.

This September, the Cambridge Council on Aging joins the National Council on Aging and hundreds of Senior Centers across the country in celebrating how Senior Centers support and empower older adults. COVID-19 trends in Massachusetts and in Cambridge have been moving in the right direction since the peak of the Omicron surge in January. Recently, Cambridge has seen a small uptick in COVID-19 cases. A review of these cases indicates that this uptick is attributable to cases affiliated with institutions of higher education in the city. While cases in the community have been decreasing steadily, higher ed cases have been increasing.
