The City of Cambridge plans to install bus-only lanes and separated bike lanes on Massachusetts Avenue between Douglass Street to Memorial Drive. We were delayed last Fall and have new information to share.
Avoid Contact with Alewife Brook Through May 23 Due to Potential Harmful Bacteria and Other Pollutants
People and pets should avoid contact with Alewife Brook and parts of the Mystic River due to the release of stormwater mixed with sewage into the river. The release of mixed stormwater and sewage—known as a “combined sewer overflow (CSO)”—is needed to prevent contaminated water from backing up into homes, businesses, and city streets.

Harvard Book Store and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Angela Buchdahl—Senior Rabbi of Central Synagogue in New York City and the first Asian American to be ordained as a rabbi—for a discussion of her memoir Heart of a Stranger: An Unlikely Rabbi's Story of Faith, Identity, and Belonging. She will be joined in conversation by Allegra Goodman—local author of the bestselling novels Isola and The Chalk Artist. Registration is required.

Cambridge Public Health Department Shares Information about COVID-19 Cases Linked to Summer Program
The Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD) recently identified 32 cases likely connected to a children’s summer program in Cambridge. Of these cases, 20 were among students attending the program (all under age12); 3 were among staff and interns; and 9 were among household contacts of staff and students. Children and staff in the summer program were following proper mitigation measures, including wearing masks and washing their hands frequently. Several cases associated with the cluster were sequenced and identified as Delta variant cases.
Cookbook Club (Collins)
March Selection: What Can I Bring? by Casey Elsass. Join friends and neighbors for a potluck! Try a recipe and bring your results or thoughts to share and discuss with other cooks. All experience levels welcome. No need to bring a dish to join. Books will be available for pick up at the Boudreau and Collins Branches during library hours.
