Signs for Inclusion: Fun & Practical ASL for Everyday Communication
Join us for a fun, interactive introduction to American Sign Language (ASL) and inclusive communication. Participants will learn practical everyday signs, respectful ways to interact with Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, expressive communication techniques, and simple real-life ASL scenarios. This activity-based workshop includes silent communication challenges, group participation, and engaging sign language games designed to build confidence and connection through communication. Community Visioning Workshop with the A.R.T. and ProBlak (Main)
Join the American Repertory Theater, in collaboration with the artists Dr. Rob "Problak" Gibbs and Gina Latham, for an afternoon community mural visioning workshop. Attendees will be invited to share stories, values, references, and insights that will inform the eventual development of a community mural at the A.R.T.'s new location.
The two-hour workshop is free, designed for all ages, and open to the public. Registration is encouraged but not required.
Summer Reading: Crafternoon Dinosaur Airplanes (Collins)
Instructions and supplies will be provided for an afternoon activity. Learn to fold paper airplanes inspired by flying dinosaurs. We'll follow complex instructions and share flying tips to make these Jurassic models. Recommended for ages 6-12 with a caregiver.
Drop-in Maker Studio (O'Neill)
Come to the Library to create something special! Use your own supplies or try out our equipment! You can use our 1-inch button maker, 2.5 inch button maker, 3-D Doodle pens, or Janome sewing machines. The Library will provide basic supplies.
This drop-in program is for people who feel comfortable using these machines on their own. The Library will not provide instruction. Anyone wishing to use the sewing machines must have completed a Sewing 101 training through the Library. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
