Estate Planning for All (Main)
The Cambridge Public Library and Legal Services Center of Harvard Law School are excited to offer Estate Planning for All in-person at the Main Library. Estate plans can help you prepare for unexpected changes, offer a sense of security in uncertain times, and ensure that your wishes will be carried out if you become ill, incapacitated, or die unexpectedly. Everyone—regardless of background or financial situation—can have an estate plan.
We will discuss:
Financial issues during our lifetimes: power of attorney, homestead declaration, and trusts
Health and medical issues: health care proxy, medical directives, and HIPAA authorization
Preparing for death: wills and declaration as to remains
Estate planning issues specific to veterans and individuals with disabilities will also be discussed.
Family Board Game Night (Valente)
Join us for an evening of board games at the Valente Branch. Challenge neighbors, family, friends and strangers to prove your gaming might.
The library will provide all materials. Bring your friends!
[Moved Indoors] Outdoor Concert with Albino Mbie (Joan Lorentz Park)
Tonight's concert will be moved indoors to the Lecture Hall at the Main Library (449 Broadway) due to the potential for rain.
Albino Mbie is an award winning Musician, Guitarist, Singer, Composer, Sound and mixing engineer born in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, a country in southern Africa known for its rich musical and cultural heritage. This event is generously sponsored by The Manuel Rogers, Sr. & Mary R. Rogers Endowment Fund. In the event of rain or extreme heat, this event will be moved inside the Lecture Hall at the Main Library. All ages welcome. No registration is required.
Tween Comic Book Club (Main)
Let’s talk about your favorite comics! Bring in a graphic novel and share your thoughts on why it’s great – or even why it’s terrible. Each month will feature a different reading challenge – you get to pick any comic that you think matches the theme! Celebrate comics with snacks, books, and maybe even the chance to make one yourself!
This month’s theme, we're celebrating women artists! Bring in your favorite graphic novel or manga from a female creator and share it.
Snacks are provided. This program is for ages 9-12.

CANCELLED: Songs, Stories, and Conversation in Mandarin (Valente)
The Saturday, May 24 event has been cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience; please register and join us on June 14.
Join us for an hour of songs, stories, and social meet-up in Mandarin Chinese with JingJing and Chelsea, two local mothers and educators. This fun and interactive session brings families together in a warm, welcoming environment.
This event is for children and their caregivers. In the first half, listen to engaging stories and sing lively songs. In the second half, children will do an activity, and everyone will have an opportunity to socialize.
Great Books Book Group (Main/Virtual)
This week's selection: Arthur Rimbaud, "The Drunken Boat," "Vowels," "Eternity," "Memory," "To a Reason," and "Dawn."
Reading Interests: We concentrate on Great Books in the following areas: a long novel over the summer, two sections of poetry and short stories, a book of the Bible, a Shakespeare play, an ancient and modern drama, a work of science, a smaller work of fiction, an even smaller work of fiction, and a rotating mix of politics, philosophy, and religion. Authors read in the past five years include Dickens, Keats and Yeats, O'Connor and Munro, Ecclesiastes, Sophocles and August Wilson, Darwin, Austen, Duras, The Federalist Papers, and Arendt.
How to get the print book: Copies of the reading are set aside at the Main Library. Visit the Main Library at 449 Broadway during current service hours and a staff member can help you get a copy.

Adult Gaming: Unplugged (Main)
Are you suffering from chronic information overload? Feeling overwhelmed by too much technology in your life? Join us for an evening of old school board gaming! Relax and recharge your internal battery with one of our classic board games or bring your own personal fave. Gaming: Unplugged takes place on the first Monday of every month from 6:00 -- 7:30 PM in the Rossi Room. Be there or be square!
Do you want to learn how to play Mah Jong? Stop by Adult Gaming: Unplugged on Monday, Feb. 9th for a fun and free-spirited tutorial. Learn the basics of the game and even try your hand for a turn!
For the month of February, Adult Gaming: Unplugged will be held on Monday, February 9th, 2026. It will return to its first Monday of the month schedule on March 2nd, 2026.
Middle Grade Mystery Book Group (O'Connell/Virtual)
Our monthly Middle Grade Mystery book group is for kids aged 10-14. Check out a copy of the book beforehand, or download it from the Libby app.
Our October book is Return to Howliday Inn by James Howe.
This book group will meet virtually and in person at the O'Connell Branch. Please register below if you would like to attend virtually. A Zoom link will be sent to all registered participants one hour before the event.
