16-28 Porter Street
16-28 Porter Street is a 12,920 square foot vacant lot located in the Wellington-Harrington neighborhood, a location surrounded by many amenities such as Twin city Plaza, Gold Star Mothers Park, and the Lechmere MBTA station. It was acquired by the Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) in April 2026 with financial support from the Cambridge Affordable Housing Trust (CAHT). The site is expected to be developed under the provisions of the Affordable Housing Overlay.
Finance
The Finance Department is responsible for the City's operating and capital finances, and fort processing payments for real estate and personal property taxes, municipal lien certificates, motor vehicle excise tax, and water bills.
Tween Book Group
Calling all middle grade readers! Meet up in the Curious George Room every third Thursday to eat pizza and talk about books with your friends. The book for this month is Other Words for Home by Jasmine Warga.
Snacks are provided. This group is for ages 10-12.
Participants should read the book ahead of this month’s meeting. Registration is required.

Shop for Free with The Spot: Prom Day
Join the Spot Cambridge and the Cambridge Public Library for its Shop for Free: Prom Day event. A wide range of dresses, suits, and accessories suitable for Prom will be available. All clothing and accessories are free of charge. No registration is required.

Crafternoon: Lego Printmaking (Main)
Learn the basics of block printing by making your own one-color print using Legos! All materials are provided. LEGO pieces are choking hazards for young children. Recommended for ages 7 and up with a caregiver. This program can accommodate 15 printmakers and their caregiver. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis on the day of the program. This program starts promptly and any unclaimed seats will be offered to someone waiting.
