The City of Cambridge is seeking a proven leader who can inspire the confidence of the community and police officers as the city’s Police Commissioner. The successful candidate will have exceptional management skills and a proven record of implementing community-focused solutions to public safety problems, along with a demonstrated ability to interact in a positive and effective manner with a diverse community.

SHADE Installation
SHADE is a temporary installation developed by a group of local teens for peers to combat isolation and encourage gathering in a safe, cool location.
Youth Dungeons and Dragons Session 1/3 (Valente Branch)
Youth ages 10-16 are welcome to join for three sessions of cooperative role-play and storytelling as we build out skills playing the table-top game DnD. The first session will include a character-building introduction followed by play continued into the next two sessions. No prior DnD experience is required, and experienced players are also welcome to join.
Registration is required, as the program is capped at 8 players. Please plan to attend all sessions!

Dates Announced for Next Police Exam and Application Deadline
The deadline to apply for the next Civil Service exam to become a Cambridge Police Officer has been announced. The deadline to apply for the exam is January 17, 2023. Late applications, which would result in an additional $50 fee, will be accepted until January 31, 2023. In advance of the application deadline, the Cambridge Police will host a series of recruiting information sessions.

49 Sixth St Launch Event
On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, leaders from the City of Cambridge and the Commonwealth gathered with nonprofit Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) to mark the beginning of renovations at the former Sacred Heart church rectory and school in East Cambridge. By the end of 2027, POAH plans to complete construction on the property, which will create 46 new permanently affordable apartment homes.
