January 2026 classes will be held at Saint James Church, 1991 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02140 due to repairs to the O'Neill Branch Library. Join us for an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Conversation Practice. This conversation group is for those with an intermediate or high level of English language skill. Want to try your hand at poetry, or need a refresher on the fundamentals? This 2.5-hour workshop led by Jacob Anavisca will go over some of the building blocks of poetry (musicality, imagery, forms, etc.). Participants will be given generative exercises, and even learn a little about submitting their work for publication. Jacob Anavisca is an assistant editor of Only Poems literary magazine. His work has appeared in HNDL MAG. Registration is required.

This class is designed for people of all levels to strengthen the muscles, the heart and the brain--all while having fun and moving to great music! Come as you are and take everything at your own pace. This class is conducted from a standing position and incorporates exercises like modified lunges, cardio, and body resistance strength training. Registration for each session is required. This is an in-person event in the Lewis Room of the Central Square Branch Library.

In this class students will be introduced to the printmaking process of linocut. The class will cover techniques in carving linoleum, composition, ink mixing, and printing. At their own pace students will learn how to create a design and carve it in linoleum using carving tools. Students will learn how to ink and print their linoleum blocks by hand. In a relaxed and welcoming environment students will create many beautiful prints of their own as well as collaborate with their classmates. This class is suitable for beginners and can be adjusted for all levels of experience. This class is taught by Brooke Lambert, a professional printmaker and painter. She holds a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and shows her work widely in New England, New York, and beyond. Brooke works in Studio 291 at Western Avenue Studios & Lofts in Lowell, MA. She is currently represented by The Society of American Graphic Artists in New York, NY, Galaray House in Boston, MA and Bay View Artisan Gallery in Meredith, NH. Brooke is sponsored by Akua Inks and Speedball Art Products. She has fourteen years of teaching experience and currently teaches adult art workshops and holds artist demos at several locations in New England.
