The Cambridge Police Senior Academy is a unique opportunity for Cambridge adults age 60 and older to engage with law enforcement professionals, learn about policing practices, and gain insights into public safety initiatives. This comprehensive program aims to foster positive relationships between older adults and the Cambridge Police Department while providing valuable education.

The City of Cambridge recently presented the 2024 Fresh Pond Stewardship Award to two former City of Cambridge Leaders, retired Deputy City Manager Lisa Peterson and retired Managing Director of Cambridge Water Department Stephen “Sam” Corda. The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), formerly called the Fuel Assistance Program, helps income-eligible residents who live in Cambridge or Somerville pay winter heating bills between November 1 and April 30. Renters and homeowners are eligible to apply if they meet federal income guidelines.

In March 2024, the City Council passed Policy Order 2024 #37, which asked the Community Development Department “to work with the chairs of the Housing Committee to create zoning language that effectively promotes multifamily housing, including income-restricted affordable housing with the goal of having viable housing for everyone especially lower-income residents.” A series of Housing Committee meetings will be held to discuss the proposal throughout the summer and fall of 2024. Additional information will be posted here as the proposal is developed.
