The City of Cambridge has confirmed that its Temporary Emergency Construction Moratorium, which was originally instituted on March 18, 2020 on all construction activity for both public and private property will remain in place. Additionally, the City today released guidance to contractors that are approved to work during the moratorium. Due to structural concerns at 221 Mount Auburn Street (Riverview Condominium Building), the City of Cambridge will close segments of Mount Auburn Street and Sparks Street starting Saturday, July 19. Multiple detours and traffic changes will be in place to maintain the closure, which may last through the end of 2025.

The City of Cambridge plans to redesign Beech Street near the intersection at Elm Street. The project will shorten pedestrian crossings and simplify the intersection by creating a T-shaped layout. To make these improvements possible, about six resident permit parking spaces on Beech Street near the bend will be removed.
