In accordance with the City of Cambridge Welcoming Community Ordinance Reporting Guidelines (section 2.129.060), the Cambridge Police Department has published data on interactions with Immigration & Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) for the six-month period spanning from August 2025 to February 2026.

Find your next great read! In this program, we will be sampling books from our Central Square adult collection. Spend 5 minutes with each title before rotating to the next. Snacks will be provided. Registration helpful but not required.

The Community Safety Department’s CARE Team launched in 2024, providing an unarmed, compassionate response to mental health crises, well-being checks, and other non-criminal emergencies. By the end of the year, they responded to nearly 200 emergency calls, assisted over 150 community members, and removed 1,600 needles from public spaces, with 94% of calls requiring no police involvement. In collaboration with local organizations and the Cambridge Police Department, the CARE Team also offers case management and referrals, helping residents access shelter, addiction treatment, housing support, and other essential services.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Cambridge has prioritized supporting our unhoused community. Over the past year, we have invested over $11 million in additional funding above the annual $4.5 million to further support our most vulnerable residents.

The Affordable Housing Trust has worked to shape housing programs and policies, fund the purchase of residential buildings and development sites for affordable housing developments, and provide funding that preserves and creates affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families in Cambridge. 

The Cambridge Police Department (CPD) with assistance from our law enforcement partners have placed Hugo Asamoah, 50, of Worcester under arrest on a warrant for charges connected to an October 6, 2025 shots fired incident on Columbia St. in Cambridge.
