The City of Cambridge Housing Department and Affordable Housing Trust (CAHT) are hosting a virtual community meeting to provide updates about process to redevelop Vail Court, 139 Bishop Allen Drive as affordable housing on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

Let’s talk about your favorite comics! Bring in a graphic novel and share your thoughts on why it’s great – or even why it’s terrible. Each month will feature a different reading challenge – you get to pick any comic that you think matches the theme! Celebrate comics with snacks, books, and maybe even the chance to make one yourself! This month’s theme, we're celebrating women artists! Bring in your favorite graphic novel or manga from a female creator and share it. Snacks are provided. This program is for ages 9-12. The latest information relating to COVID-19 in the City of Cambridge

Come to the Library to create something special! Use your own supplies or try out our equipment! You can use our 1-inch button maker, 2.5 inch button maker, 3-D Doodle pens, or Janome sewing machines. The Library will provide basic supplies. This drop-in program is for people who feel comfortable using these machines on their own. The Library will not provide instruction. Anyone wishing to use the sewing machines must have completed a Sewing 101 training through the Library. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

This event has been cancelled. Please join us for another walk on June 18. Join guide Stefanie Haug while exploring our neighborhood nature and history. As a group we'll connect with and explore the neighborhood mindfully with a gentle walk and draw on contemplative practices. What to bring: layered clothing, comfortable shoes and water. Where to meet: At the Collins Branch entrance. Registration is requested but not required.

What's hot & cold & read all over? The O'Neill Branch Library's new HVAC system! Bring a hot or cold dish to share as we celebrate community and our new heating and cooling system. We'll provide a hot fudge sundae bar, plates, napkins, and cutlery. Library staff will also be on hand to ask how we can be the best library for you. Tell us how you use our collections, technology, programs, services, and spaces. Share what library services have the biggest impact on you. Your feedback will help us improve services and set priorities for the coming years.

Join us for our Halloween celebration with a special appearance from Professor Bugman! His "Spooky Bones and Creepy Crawlies" program focuses on comparative skeletal anatomy. We will handle and pass around real animal bones, skulls and skeletons while talking about what bones are, what they do, and how to tell them apart, and learning more about the animal they came from. Then, we'll dive in and compare this to the exoskeletons of arthropods, focusing on a selection of our creepier bugs. Prof. Bugman will begin at 4:30. Treats provided and costumes encouraged! This program is for children and their caregivers.

Treat yourself to an afternoon of fun, creativity, and community while a local artist guides us step-by-step through the process of painting a beautiful art piece, suitable for hanging on your door or wall. Tea and light refreshments provided. No experience necessary. All are welcome. Old clothing recommended, as acrylic paint can stain. Seating is limited to 8. Registration is required and will open November 24.
