Hot weather and extreme heat can cause serious illness and be life-threatening, and every year we see more and more extreme heat days. This summer, Cambridge--like so many other communities across the nation -- will need to manage and prepare for hot weather and extreme heat as well as continuing to manage COVID-19.

Due to a calculation error, the Cambridge case counts reported for April 12 reflected an over count. The Cambridge Public Health Department has since reconciled the discrepancy in positive case counts among Cambridge residents (in non-institutional settings) and newly reported cases in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities.

The Department of Public Works has announced changes to its sewer connection fees that will take effect on March 1, 2025. A sewer connection fee is a one-time charge assessed as part of a building permit, based on the number of plumbing fixtures that connect to the sewer.

On December 22, 2020, the Baker-Polito Administration announced further restrictions to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth, including new capacity and gathering limits. These measures will go into effect on Saturday, December 26 and will remain in effect until noon on January 10, 2021.

The Baker-Polito Administration announced two new mass vaccination sites will open in Natick and Dartmouth. On Thursday, 74,000 appointments will be posted online for mass vaccination sites and pharmacies at locations statewide. The administration also announced that individuals who accompany someone age 75 or older to get a vaccine at a mass vaccination site may also schedule and receive their own vaccination on the same day.

The City of Cambridge will once again host Danehy Park Family Day on Saturday, September 21, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Danehy Park is a 55-acre facility located at 99 Sherman Street in North Cambridge (adjacent to Garden and New Streets). The event rain date is September 28, 2024.
