Our Merlin Missions book group is for Magic Tree House fans ages 5-10 who are ready for these longer adventures about Jack and Annie! Check out a copy of the book beforehand, or download it from the Libby app. Our October book is Magic Tree House Merlin Mission #12: Eve of the Emperor Penguin. This book group will meet virtually and in person at the O'Connell Branch. Please register below if you would like to attend virtually. Cambridge City Manager Yi-An Huang is seeking Cambridge residents interested in serving on the Police Review & Advisory Board. Made up of volunteer members, the Board serves as a fair and impartial body that provides oversight of the Cambridge Police Department.

Join in for an afternoon of hands-on service projects that benefit Cambridge and Somerville residents in need. Make fleece scarves and blankets for homeless children and adults. Make Valentines for elders and veterans. Sort food, winter clothing, children’s books. Assemble toiletry kits and emergency room activity bags.

Anyone can make a delicious herbal tea blend! In this class, presented by herbalist Mo Katz-Christy, we will discuss a handful of common herbs for tea: their uses, flavors, energies, and what they add to a blend. We will smell each of the herbs and taste some as well, learning how the flavors blend and how they complement each other. Part information and science, part sensory exploration, this class will be as playful as it is educational! Bring your own jar to take your tea blend home. Registration is required and will open May 15.

City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed on Monday, January 1, 2024 in observance of the New Year’s holiday. Payments will not be required at Cambridge parking meters and pay stations on January 1, 2024. Curbside collection of trash, recycling, and compost will be suspended on January 1 and will be one day behind its regular schedule that week. Please note that yard waste pick-up and street cleaning ends on December 29 and will resume in April 2024.
