Separated Bicycle Facilities
The term “separated bicycle facility” is generally used to refer to bicycle facilities that follow street alignments but where there is a physical separation between the bicycle travel area and the motor vehicle travel area, often through barriers or grade separation. They are located between the street and the sidewalk, or between the parking lane and the sidewalk and may be referred to as buffered bike lanes, raised bike lanes, cycle tracks, or one-way bike paths.
May 2023 Community Safety Department Update
The City of Cambridge is excited to provide an update on the development of the Cambridge Community Safety Department. The team has been hard at work creating this new department and getting ready to have non police responders going out on mental health 911 calls this Fall, 2023.
Spring Holiday 2021 Guidance
Celebrating the spring holidays such as Passover, Easter, and Ramadan will be different this year, again, due to COVID-19. However, with warmer weather and more people getting fully vaccinated (see guidance below), there are more options to celebrate with family and friends and be safe.
Fossil Fuel Free Demonstration Ordinance
The City of Cambridge is working to adopt an ordinance that will require new buildings and buildings undergoing a major renovation to eliminate the use of fossil fuels. Making buildings fossil fuel free means healthier homes and buildings and will help Cambridge reach our climate goals.
Apply for a Fire Alarm Master Box Connection
The Electrical Department provides connectivity to a private fire alarm system by means of a Fire Alarm Master Box, which allows direct reporting to the City's Emergency Communications Department.
CPL Nature Club: Morning Bird Watching Walk at Mount Auburn Cemetery (Collins)
Join us for a morning walk at one of the most renowned bird watching spots in Cambridge, Mount Auburn Cemetery! We will help you identify birds, learn birdwatching tips and tricks, and familiarize yourself with migratory birds as well as those that can be spotted all year round. A limited supply of binoculars will be available.
The walk will meet at the Collins Branch Library at 64 Aberdeen Ave at 10:15 am. We will walk to Mt. Auburn Cemetery together (about a five minute walk). Please try to be on time as we will leave shortly after 10:15!
Registration is required. This event can only accommodate a certain number of participants. One registration is good for one person. If you do not register, you cannot participate. Those on the waitlist will be contacted if a space becomes available.
