riah is a Cape Verdean-American artist from Boston with a musical style that blends alt/pop, R&B, and neo-soul. After amassing over two million combined streams with her first widely successful hit “Too Fast,” riah released her first EP “Head/Space” in 2024. Bring a chair, food, and loved ones to celebrate the summer! Funding is provided by the CPL Foundation in memory of Janet Axelrod.
Community CPR/AED Training Day
AEDs and CPR manikins will make hands-on, simultaneous instruction possible for large groups of participants. The equipment lets participants practice recognizing cardiac arrest, beginning compressions, and operating an AED in a simulated emergency, rather than learning the steps only in theory. Local agencies Cambridge Fire, Crimson EMS and ProEMS will be on site throughout the event to support instruction and answer questions, reinforcing the coordination between campus responders and the city's fire and rescue services that a true 4 Minute Community depends on.
Sewing 101 with ASL Interpretation (Main)
In this 90-minute workshop, you’ll learn the basics of sewing machine operation and safety. This session will cover machine setup, basic functions, threading the machine, reloading the bobbin, sewing straight stitches, and recognizing when stitch tension has gone awry. We’ll also cover some safety best practices when operating a sewing machine. As we learn together, we’ll work on a simple sewing project—a drawstring bag—which most students will be able to complete by the end of the class. Registration is prioritized for patrons who will directly benefit from interpretation in American Sign Language. Please email thehive@cambridgema.gov to register. You must complete Hive Safety Training before registering for this workshop.
