The City of Cambridge announced today that it will not advance to Phase IV, Step 1 of the Commonwealth’s Reopening Plan and will remain in Phase III, Step 2 until further notice. The City will also restrict gathering limits for event venues and in public settings to 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors. In addition, the City of Cambridge announced that it is extending the current prohibition on City-sponsored community events, events permitted for the use of City parks, or other City-sponsored public gatherings through May 31, 2021.

The Walden Square Inflow and Infiltration (I&I) Project is located in the vicinity of 99 Sherman Street. The City has designated this area for redesign to help reduce the amount of storm water that goes into the city drainage system in order to prevent flooding during heavy rain events. The I&I project at Walden Square encompasses three parcels of land with the first parcel being the surface parking lot at Danehy Park, the second being the roadway at Sherman Street, and the third being the surface lot at the Walden Square Apartments.

The Lechmere Square Public Market Feasibility Study is an outgrowth of a proposal put forward by a number of residents of East Cambridge to create a year-round public market on the site once the station has moved

The Community Development Department and the Department of Public Works are collaborating with the East Cambridge Business Association and Inman Square Neighborhood Association to mitigate construction-related impacts on local businesses associated with the Inman Square Intersection Improvements Project.

The Community Development Department (CDD) has partnered with CultureHouse and the Cambridge Office for Tourism to activate the historic Kiosk in Harvard Square. The kiosk will be a community space featuring informational services and a variety of community programming.

Authors read in the past five years include Dickens, Keats and Yeats, O'Connor and Munro, Ecclesiastes, Sophocles and August Wilson, Darwin, Austen, Duras, The Federalist Papers, and Arendt. Install 10 shaded benches with solar power charging stations around Cambridge. This project will improve the daily quality of life for pedestrians. These solar benches will allow people to sit out of the sun and charge their electronic devices.

Cambridge hosts many outdoor events each year. Accessible mats can lay over unpaved terrain to ensure that more people can enjoy the beautiful green space of these events. These mats support families with strollers, wheelchairs, and other mobility aids.
