Our Merlin Missions book group is for Magic Tree House fans ages 5-10 who are ready for these longer adventures about Jack and Annie! Check out a copy of the book beforehand, or download it from the Libby app. Our October book is Magic Tree House Merlin Mission #12: Eve of the Emperor Penguin. This book group will meet virtually and in person at the O'Connell Branch. Please register below if you would like to attend virtually. Due to unforeseen circumstances, this event has been cancelled at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. Join local artist Brooke Lambert for an introduction to painting with watercolor. Learn at your own pace to paint still life in a relaxed and welcoming environment. This class will introduce techniques in color mixing, observational painting and composition. You will come away from this class with beautiful watercolor paintings and a greater understanding and appreciation for the medium of watercolor. This class is for adults with all levels of experiences and will cover wet on wet and wet on dry techniques, masking, pressing, shading and light techniques, ink washes and pattern making. Registration is required and opens Thursday, May 7 at 10 a.m.

Join us for a lively discussion of a great book in person at the Main Library! Snacks will be provided. For ages 7-9 and a parent or caregiver. This month's book is One-Third Nerd by Gennifer Choldenko. When Liam and his two younger sisters find out they will have to give away their beloved (if unhousebroken) dog Cupcake or risk being kicked out of their apartment, they cook up extreme and hilarious schemes to keep the dog. The Cambridge Public Library and Legal Services Center of Harvard Law School are excited to offer Estate Planning for All in-person at the Main Library. Estate plans can help you prepare for unexpected changes, offer a sense of security in uncertain times, and ensure that your wishes will be carried out if you become ill, incapacitated, or die unexpectedly. Everyone—regardless of background or financial situation—can have an estate plan. We will discuss: Financial issues during our lifetimes: power of attorney, homestead declaration, and trusts Health and medical issues: health care proxy, medical directives, and HIPAA authorization Preparing for death: wills and declaration as to remains Estate planning issues specific to veterans and individuals with disabilities will also be discussed.

Natural hazard mitigation planning is the process of figuring out how to reduce or eliminate the loss of life and property damage resulting from natural hazards such as floods, earthquakes, and hurricanes.

This project would fund rapid flashing beacons at 10 high pedestrian risk crosswalks. These beacons increase the visibility of pedestrians, especially at night. They can alert drivers to crossing pedestrians, thereby preventing crashes.
