This pay equity dashboard (Beta) was created to display the City’s wage data in a transparent and easily accessible way so that anyone would have access to it. This project was part of the Pay Equity Initiative of former Mayor E. Denise Simmons.
FY24 Understanding Your Taxes Newsletter
The establishment of the Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24) property tax rate by the Board of Assessors, subject to the approval of the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, is the final step in the fiscal process that begins with the submission of the annual budget to the City Council. The City’s Operating and Capital Budgets, property classifications, and property valuations are major factors in determining property tax bills.

Join us for a lively discussion of a great book in person at the Main Library! Snacks will be provided. For ages 7-10 and a parent or caregiver.
This month's book is Little Monarchs by Jonathan Case, a graphic novel which imagines a future world where all life on earth has become allergic to the sun. Human survivors have moved underground, and it's up to 10-year-old Elvie to distribute a cure made from Monarch wing scales to save the world! (Content: dystopian themes, some action and violence, natural disasters)
Both caregiver and child should read the book before the discussion to participate. Registration is required — only one registration is needed per family.

ABCC Advisory Regarding Food and Beverages Containing Hemp Derived CBD and/or THC on Licensed Premises
Please be advised that it is unlawful to manufacture and/or sell food or beverages containing hemp
derived CBD and/or THC. This applies to alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. These products
must be taken off the shelf immediately. Any licensee found in violation of importing,
manufacturing, transporting, selling, and/or possessing on its licensed premises food and/or
beverages containing hemp derived CBD and/or THC faces potential suspension or revocation of
its license. Wholesalers must retrieve all food and beverages containing hemp derived CBD and/or
THC sold and/or delivered by them to retail licensed premises at or before their next delivery to
each establishment. This Advisory does not apply to marijuana products manufactured under the
jurisdiction of the Cannabis Control Commission.

This discussion is inspired by the Massachusetts Seal, Flag, and Motto Advisory Commission’s open call to artists, historians, educators, students, and members of the public to participate in the effort to redesign the state’s seal, flag, and motto. Established by the Legislature in 2024, the Commission is tasked with developing and recommending new symbols to represent the state through a statewide public process.
