The Cambridge Public Library and Legal Services Center of Harvard Law School are excited to offer Estate Planning for All. Estate plans can help you prepare for unexpected changes, offer a sense of security in uncertain times, and ensure that your wishes will be carried out if you become ill, incapacitated, or die unexpectedly. Everyone—regardless of background or financial situation—can have an estate plan. We will discuss: Financial issues during our lifetimes: power of attorney, homestead declaration, and trusts Health and medical issues: health care proxy, medical directives, and HIPAA authorization Preparing for death: wills and declaration as to remains Estate planning issues specific to veterans and individuals with disabilities will also be discussed. As part of Cambridge’s ongoing work to protect communities from extreme heat, the Office of Sustainability is looking for residents to participate in an 18-month heat justice project funded by a state grant.

On March 19, Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui and City Manager Louis A. DePasquale activated the Mayor’s Disaster Relief Fund for Covid-19 to raise money for individuals and families impacted by the virus outbreak. Tomorrow, April 8, the City will be releasing the eligibility and distribution guidelines and application process for Cambridge residents to apply for funds donated to the Mayor’s Disaster Relief Fund. The City of Cambridge seeks to assist as many people as possible through these funds.

Join us for Poly Talk, an intimate discussion dedicated to the complexities of polyamory and consensual non-monogamy (CNM) through the queer lens. This is a space to dismantle hetero-mononormative stigmas and celebrate the diverse ways our community shows up for and with one another. Pull up a chair. Join our affair. Let’s talk about how we grow a community that embodies our shared values and vision for the future. Note: All relationship dynamics are welcome, provided they are rooted in consent. Want to try your hand at poetry, or need a refresher on the fundamentals? This 2.5-hour workshop led by Jacob Anavisca will go over some of the building blocks of poetry (musicality, imagery, forms, etc.). Participants will be given generative exercises, and even learn a little about submitting their work for publication. Jacob Anavisca is an assistant editor of Only Poems literary magazine. His work has appeared in HNDL MAG. Registration is required.

Medicare Open Enrollment is the one time of the year when all people with Medicare can review, compare, enroll or dis-enroll in Medicare Advantage, Original Medicare, and Part D drug plans. This is important because health needs may change from year to year; health or drug plan may change the costs, benefits, and drug coverage they offer; provider and pharmacy networks may change. By reviewing and comparing costs and benefits of the plans available for the upcoming year, there is potential to save money and ensure appropriate coverage. Medicare Open Enrollment runs from mid-October to early December. Coverage of all plans begins January 1 of the following year. Registration requested, but not required.
