October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a nationwide effort to help individuals protect themselves online.

Harvard Book Store and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Dr. Stephen Greenblatt—Cogan University Professor of the Humanities at Harvard University, general editor of The Norton Anthology of English Literature, and the author of fourteen books including The Swerve, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award—for a discussion of his new book Dark Renaissance: The Dangerous Times and Fatal Genius of Shakespeare's Greatest Rival. He will be joined in conversation by Neel Mukherjee—author of four novels, including The Lives of Others, which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Registration is required.

Site Will Provide Care & Resources for Vulnerable Cambridge Residents

Harvard Book Store and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Francis Fukuyama—Olivier Nomellini Senior Fellow at Stanford University’s Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies and the author of The End of History and the Last Man—for a discussion of his new memoir, In the Realm of the Last Man. More than a conventional memoir, In the Realm of the Last Man is personal history as political history—the story of a life that illuminates the troubled fate of democracy and liberalism over the last fifty years. Registration is required.

The "Remembering Together" support group is for patrons who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Facilitated by the library social worker, this online group offers a safe and confidential online space for peers to come together, share common experiences and heal in community. Springfield Street near Inman Square will close for the Portuguese-American Civic League of Cambridge and Somerville's Holy Ghost Feast.

On February 4, 2021, the Governor of Massachusetts announced that as of Monday, February 8, 2021, the capacity limits for certain businesses will increase from the current 25% to 40%.  After careful consideration, the City of Cambridge will follow the increase but will continue to monitor and amend if necessary in the interest of the public’s safety. The City of Cambridge previously announced that it will be returning to Phase III, Step 1 effective on Monday, February 8 at 12:00 a.m.

The Cambridge Public Library will host special programming for youth during Cambridge Public Schools’ vacation week.

CAMBRIDGE, MA – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, Cambridge Police Commissioner Christine Elow and Somerville Chief of Police Charles Femino have announced that Lennox Pierre-Louis, 22, of Boston, has pled guilty in connection with shootings that occurred on March 11, 2022, and June 18, 2022, in Cambridge and on December 27, 2021, in Somerville.
