The sun is shining and the birds are singing on a beautiful day in July, but your child says,“I’m bored. I don’t have anything to do.”As a parent, what can you offer?

Bring a kids' book or two to swap and go home with a new book for yourself! People of all ages who enjoy kids' books are welcome. Please do not bring more than one or two books. You are welcome to take home a book even if you did not bring one. Contributions will not be accepted in advance of the event.

The City of Cambridge, in partnership with Cambridge Public Schools (CPS), announced today that applications for the Cambridge Preschool Program (CPP) will be accepted beginning this Friday. Overseen by the Cambridge Office of Early Childhood, CPP is a publicly-funded program that will provide free school-day, school-year preschool to every 4-year-old and some 3-year-olds living in Cambridge. Extended day and summer programs are available at an additional cost for most families.

Organizations interested in submitting proposals should submit a one-page Letter of Interest noting the funding category, estimated amount of requested funding, and a brief description of the project to dliss@cambridgema.gov by Friday, July 11, 2025.

Today marks the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency in Massachusetts and the country. The City of Cambridge marked this somber occasion with an event at the COVID-19 memorial located at the Cambridge Cemetery. Cambridge Peace Commission Executive Director Brian Corr, Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui, City Manager Yi-An Huang, and Chief Public Health Officer Derrick Neil spoke at the event and placed flowers next to the memorial.

This event has been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. Stay tuned for a rescheduled date. Join us for a bilingual family concert in English and Spanish. Singing, dancing and tons of fun guaranteed! Recommended for children of all ages and their caregivers. Registration is not required for this event. Funding for Summer Reading has been generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Library Foundation, Friends of the Cambridge Public Library and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

During this PB Delegate Orientation, volunteer Cambridge residents will join the City's Budget Team in learning more about the PB Delegate role. The orientation will cover an overview of the PB proposal development process, volunteer responsibilities and time commitment, as well as an opportunity for volunteers to choose their Delegate Committees and meet fellow volunteers.

Beginning on May 5, 2025, Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 239, Section 16, will allow individuals to seal their eviction records if they meet certain requirements. This means that residents may be able to remove their eviction record(s) from public view. This may make it easier to find housing in the future.
