In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Cambridge Public Health Department in collaboration with the Community Safety Department, the Cambridge Public Library and Find It Cambridge will be sponsoring a panel discussion and tabling event. Come learn from our panel of local mental health providers as they discuss how to access support for yourself or a loved one and what to expect when reaching out. The event will take place on May 19th, 6-8pm at the Cambridge Public Library, main branch. Light refreshments and childcare will be provided. Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection is adding textiles and mattresses to materials banned from trash disposal. Textiles include clothes, linens, towels, shoes, and accessories, like hats, gloves, socks, underwear, belts, and handbags. Residents can schedule a free mattress and textiles pickup online, or drop-off textiles at 12 locations.

Join Central Square's cookbook club! This month, we're celebrating Halloween and cooking all things eerie, ghostly, and witchy! We have a selection of Halloween and fall cookbooks. This CPR class will cover life-saving skills for infants, children and adults. We will use multi-media and hands-on practice to be sure students acquire skills and confidence to assist in a life-saving medical situation. This class will also cover training and the use of AED (Automated External Defibrillator) for all ages, along with life-saving skills in choking situations. Students will receive their certificate upon completion of class. Please note that the City is not responsible for the content or training equipment. Space is limited (20 adults), registration is required. Note for CONFIRMED registrants: Your spot is held until the program start time. Once the program begins, we will fill in open spots from a day-of waiting list until the program reaches capacity. Please plan to arrive at the library approximately 15 minutes before the start time to ensure adequate time to check in before the program begins. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Funding for this program has been generously provided by the Cambridge Public Library Foundation.

The City of Cambridge announced that free COVID-19 testing will be offered in North Cambridge next week on June 9, 11, and 13. Cambridge residents age 8 and older are welcome, regardless of insurance or immigration status.
