The City of Cambridge is notifying residents, businesses, and visitors of multiple temporary street closures throughout the week and weekend due to scheduled community events, including the B.A.A. 10K.

Marylou Sudders, the Secretary of Health and Human Services for Massachusetts, has notified the City of Cambridge that the Commonwealth is implementing contingency plans in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” is in order of importance. It is better to reduce than reuse; better to reuse than recycle. Reducing and reusing prevent the environmental impact of making new items. All disposal has financial costs to the city. Recycling and composting cost the City less than trash. Still, preventing waste in the first place is best for Cambridge and the environment. It is one of the key recommendations in the Cambridge Zero Waste Master Plan.

Evidence suggests that Avian Flu (HPAI-H5N1) is widespread in Massachusetts and is likely present even in areas where there has not been a confirmed positive case.

The City of Cambridge announced that the City’s basketball courts, playgrounds, tot lots, and water play structures will reopen for public use on Monday, June 29. Residents should follow all applicable City and State Public Health guidance and guidelines related to the use of these facilities.

The planning team will introduce the concept of zoning and how changes to the current Mass Ave zoning could impact the corridor. The team will also discuss an approach to our upcoming engagement with the community on the future of Porter Square.

Expect traffic impacts and road closures in Riverside and West Cambridge on Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 22, due to the Head of the Charles Regatta.
