FY26 Tax Rate Executive Summary
This Executive Summary, in response to City Council requests, summarizes information contained in the City Manager’s recommendations for the required votes by the City Council to establish the FY26 residential and commercial tax rates by the Board of Assessors and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. Responsible and responsive fiscal policies and practices are key to addressing the challenge of balancing expansion and investment in new programs and initiatives, while also minimizing the impact of increases on taxpayers.

Cambridge STEAM Initiative

Alewife Commercial District Assessment Released
The 2025 Alewife Commercial District Assessment Report is now available. The purpose of the report is to highlight a commercial district in Cambridge and to identify key issues and opportunities in the area.
Russell Field Renovation Project
The City is developing plans to renovate Russell Field and the adjacent practice field area. Plans include the resurfacing of both playing fields and site amenities to improve the functionality of the facility.
Keeping Cambridge Clean ($100,000)
Replace 10 trash barrels and recycling containers, making them rodent-proof and environmentally friendly. Big Belly trash cans will keep the streets clean, prevent pests from being drawn to waste bins, and make it easier to properly dispose of different kinds of waste.
Free Public WiFi in Columbia Park
Internet access is an essential right. Adding free WiFi to Columbia Park will enable people to access information for school and work.
